Type & Stars

Friend group chemistry test

Type & Stars scores every pair in your friend group. Everyone answers 8 questions on one phone, about a minute each, and all the pairs are revealed together. Nobody needs to know their personality type beforehand or install anything. Up to 4 people play free.

What your group gets

  • A score for every pair, ranked from Best Match at the top to Most Electric (love–hate) at the bottom.
  • A title for each person, worked out from everyone’s scores in that round.
  • A card each to keep and share, plus a scoreboard image for the group chat.

You don’t need to know your type first

The 8 questions work out each person’s 16 Types result on the spot, so people who have never taken a personality quiz can play alongside people who have. All you add is a nickname and your birth month and day. We never ask for your birth year.

Nobody has to perform

Each person answers alone while the phone is in their hands, and the previous answers are already put away. The talking starts when the scores come out, which suits the quieter people in the group as much as the loud ones.

The titles

With 3 or more people, the round hands out these titles. Each person holds one at most, and a title goes unawarded if there’s a tie.

  • Soulmate: The highest-scoring pair in the room is you two.
  • Crowd Favourite: You click with everyone here — highest average in the room.
  • Hard to Crack: Lowest average here. Not a problem — you just take time (5 or more people).
  • High Voltage: The gap between your best and worst match is the widest here.
  • The Steady One: Roughly the same with everyone — the smallest spread here.

Everyone else gets a title from their zodiac element: The Spark, The Ballast, The Topic Machine, The Mood Radar.

How the score is worked out

A pair’s score reads two things only: four personality dimensions from the answers (E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P) and the zodiac element (fire, earth, air or water) from the birth month and day. The same answers and the same birthdays always give the same score. It doesn’t know your history together, so expect some arguments, which is rather the point.

When the group isn’t in one place

Send an invite link in the group chat. Friends answer on their own phones and show up in the same round. If it’s only the two of you, a match link does the job. The how-to-play page has the steps.

What it costs

A round of up to 4 people is free, including every score, title and card. Plenty of friend groups are bigger than that, so to be upfront: rounds of more than 4 and the deep report for each pair are part of the full version.
